Dubai AI Festival 2026: Startup Pitch Competition and How to Enter

Table of Contents

Dubai AI Festival 2026 takes place on 26 and 27 October at Dubai World Trade Centre. For startups, the main event is the FutureTech World Cup, a live pitch competition open to AI and tech startups worldwide with under $250,000 in annual revenue. Winners receive a Dubai AI Licence and cloud credits. A basic Event Pass costs $50.

There are three ways for a startup to be there: pitch, exhibit in a startup pod, or attend as a delegate. This guide covers the rules, costs and trade-offs of each, so you can choose one this week.

Last verified: 8 October 2026.

The attendance figure comes from DIFC's April 2026 announcement, which also confirmed the October dates. Earlier targets of 500+ investors and 200+ speakers were announced for the original April dates and haven't been restated for October.

A note on the venue. DWTC's own event listing names the Al Multaqa Ballroom and Halls 4–6. At least one event calendar lists Hall 1 and Za'abeel Hall 3 instead. DWTC is the confirmed venue. Check the hall on your registration confirmation or the event app before you travel.

Why the Festival Moved to October

The festival was first announced for 7–8 April 2026 as the largest event in Dubai AI Week. The official event-dates page now lists it as rescheduled to 26–27 October. The organisers have not published a reason.

If you bought a pass for April, you don't need to do anything. Your registration moves to the new dates automatically. If you can't attend in October, you can transfer the pass to a colleague or keep its value as credit for the 2027 edition. Request either option from the organisers through the general enquiry form.

The move has one side effect worth knowing. Some third-party listings and older articles still show April dates or the previous venue, Madinat Jumeirah. Treat anything dated before mid-2026 as out of date.

The FutureTech World Cup: What It Is

The FutureTech World Cup is the festival's startup pitch competition. It was launched in 2024 with Trescon, the events company that ran the earlier Dubai AI & Web3 Festival. That year, qualifier rounds were held at Dubai AI Campus, and finalists pitched live at the festival to a jury of investors. The 2024 qualifier panel included partners from Antler and Ceras Ventures, according to the launch announcement.

The 2024 champion was PLATMA, an AI business-automation platform. The official competition page still names it as the most recent winner.

Who Can Enter the Pitch Competition

The official page sets five conditions:

RequirementWhat It SaysWhat It Means in Practice
StagePre-seed, seed or MVPYou need something working, even if early
RevenueUnder $250,000 a yearAbout AED 918,000; most post-Series A startups are out
ProductTech-enabled with a forward-looking visionAI should be central, not a feature you added for the application
LocationOpen to startups worldwideNo UAE licence or residency needed to apply
AttendanceMust attend and pitch in DubaiNo remote pitching; budget for travel

The listed focus areas are robotics, big data, conversational AI, digital twins, cybersecurity, data centres, computer vision, generative AI, autonomous vehicles and robotic process automation.

The official page leaves some questions open:

  • Funded startups. The stage line says "(Bootstrapped)" next to pre-seed and seed. It doesn't say whether a startup with angel or pre-seed funding is excluded. If you've raised a small round, say so in your application rather than hide it.
  • Sector fit. A fintech or proptech startup built on AI isn't on the list, but generative AI and conversational AI cover a lot of products. Lead with the AI capability in your application, not the industry.
  • Entry fee. No entry fee is currently listed on the 2026 competition page. The 2024 edition was free to enter.
  • Visas. Founders from countries that need a UAE visa must arrange it themselves. Finals are less than three weeks away, so start now.

What Winners Get, and What It Is Worth

PrizeWho Gets ItReal Value to a Founder
Dubai AI LicenceWinnerHighest value if you plan to base an AI company in Dubai; little use if you don't
$25,000 AWS creditsWinnerUseful if you already run on AWS; check the expiry date and which services it covers
$20,000 Trescon creditsWinnerCredit for Trescon's own events, not cash; only worth it if you plan to attend or exhibit at them
Free startup podAll finalistsSaves the $1,150 pod cost and gives you a stand for both days
Mentorship, networking, recognitionWinnerDepends on how actively you follow up after the event

The licence is the prize that matters. Dubai AI Campus, the festival's organiser, licenses AI companies through DIFC. The prize covers the licence, not the whole company setup. Visas, workspace and other setup costs are separate, and the 2026 page doesn't state the licence term (the 2024 winner received a one-year licence).

The published prize list does not show a cash award, and no investment is guaranteed. The main value is time in front of the investors and enterprise buyers in the room.

How to Enter the FutureTech World Cup

Check the five conditions above. Revenue under $250,000, a working MVP and a founder who can be in Dubai on 26–27 October.
Apply through the competition page. The "Apply Now" and "Nominate Your Start-up" buttons on the FutureTech World Cup page open the same application form.
Prepare a short pitch. No pitch length is published. Prepare a five-minute version and a three-minute version, with a live demo or a 60-second demo video as backup.
Be ready for a selection step. In 2024, startups went through pre-qualification rounds and only finalists pitched at the festival. The 2026 selection process isn't clearly published, so keep your deck and demo ready in case you're called for a screening.
Book travel once you are shortlisted. Use the festival's accommodation partner link or a hotel near Trade Centre or the Metro red line.
The official page doesn't give an application deadline, finals date or judges for 2026. With the event less than three weeks away, apply this week. If you are not selected, a startup pod is still available.

Pitch, Pod or Pass: Which One Fits Your Startup

We compared the three main ways a startup can attend, using the official pass list and the startup package page.

OptionCostWhat You GetMain Risk
FutureTech World CupNo fee listedStage time in front of a jury and investors; prizes; free pod for finalistsYou may not be selected, and you can't control when you hear back
Startup pod$1,150 incl. VAT (about AED 4,225)4 sqm branded pod for two days, 5 staff passes, app listing, lead scanning, 6 months of Ignyte membershipPods are in a busy area; results depend on how actively you approach people
Startup Stories Stage slot+$500 (about AED 1,836), on top of the podA speaking slotLimited slots; smaller audience than the main stage
Event Pass$50 (about AED 184)Exhibition floor, conference sessions, schedule appNo attendee list or meeting tool, so all networking is unplanned
Premium Networking Pass$2,400 until 12 Oct, then $3,000Full attendee list, unlimited 1-to-1 meeting requests, premium lounges, 1-year Ignyte membershipExpensive for a pre-seed budget
Investor or Guest PassBy applicationPremium-level access for investors and C-level executivesApproval isn't guaranteed
One pricing detail to watch: when we checked on 8 October, the Premium Networking Pass card on the official site showed $2,100. The early-bird schedule on the same page lists $2,100 only until 28 September, then $2,400 to 12 October and $3,000 from 13 October. Verify the final price at checkout before you pay.

Which One to Choose

  • Apply to pitch if you meet the revenue cap and your product demos well. It costs nothing and finalists get a free pod.
  • Book a pod if you need leads from enterprise buyers and want a fixed spot where they can find you. The five staff passes make it cheaper per person than buying Premium passes.
  • Buy a $50 Event Pass if you're still at the idea stage, or attending mainly to learn. Book meetings with people before the event, by email or LinkedIn.
  • Buy the Premium pass only if investor meetings are the reason you're going. The attendee list and meeting tool are what you're paying for.
  • Skip the festival if your company isn't AI-led and doesn't sell to enterprise or government buyers. Expand North Star in December is better suited to general startups looking for investors.
A practical option for a two-founder team: one founder applies to pitch while the other books a $50 Event Pass. If you reach the finals, you get the pod for free. If not, you have still attended for $50.

Dubai AI Festival 2026 Tickets and Passes

There are four pass types, according to the official registration page:

PassPriceIncludesBest For
Event Pass$50 (about AED 184)Exhibition floor, conference sessions, exhibitors and schedule appFounders, students and anyone attending to learn
Premium Networking Pass$2,400 until 12 Oct; $3,000 from 13 Oct (check at checkout)Everything in the Event Pass, full attendee list, unlimited 1-to-1 meeting requests, premium lounges, 1-year Ignyte membershipFounders and sales teams whose goal is investor or buyer meetings
Guest PassBy applicationPremium access without the Ignyte membershipC-level and senior executives
Investor PassBy applicationSame access as the Guest PassActive investors

Guest and Investor passes need the organisers' approval, so apply early if you're relying on one. If yours isn't approved, the $50 Event Pass is the fallback.

How to Register for Dubai AI Festival 2026

Go to the registration page and choose your pass.
Pay or apply. For the Event or Premium pass, pay online. For the Guest or Investor pass, submit the application form and wait for approval.
Keep your confirmation email. It holds your badge details and shows your hall.
Download the event app once it's available, to see the exhibitor list and schedule (and, with Premium, to request meetings).
Collect your badge on site at DWTC. Allow extra time on the morning of 26 October, when queues are longest.

If you registered for the original April dates, your pass carries over automatically. Exhibitors and startup pods book separately through the startup package page.

What Happens at the Festival

The official site lists eight themes: AI for all, global AI governance, immersive experiences, innovation and ethics, future of work, AI cornerstone, AI literacy, and infrastructure and investment. Sessions run across the Plenary Stage, an Innovation Stage, and workshops and roundtables. Formats include fireside chats, report and product launches, and the pitch competition.

The 2026 agenda is now live on the official agenda page, split by day (26 and 27 October) and by stage: the Plenary Stage, the Innovation Stage, and Roundtables and Workshops. Session formats include keynotes, panels, fireside chats, case studies, product launches and the pitch competition. Filter by day and stage to plan your two days.

The 2026 speakers page lists 79 speakers and moderators. They include Arif Amiri (CEO, DIFC Authority), Salem Humaid Al Marri (Director General, Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre), Mati Staniszewski (CEO, ElevenLabs), Arvind Jain (CEO, Glean) and Dr. Marwan Alzarouni (Chief AI Officer, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism). Investors on the list include Reda Nidhakou of VentureOne and Priyanka Chopra of IIMA Ventures.

The partners show who you're likely to meet. They include Dubai Future Foundation, DIFC, Dubai Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of AI, Google Cloud, HP, Mistral AI, Alibaba Cloud and Snowflake. The audience is mainly government teams and enterprise technology buyers, not consumer-app investors.

Common Mistakes Founders Make

  • Waiting for a deadline that isn't published. No closing date is listed, and the event is less than three weeks away. If you wait for an announcement, you will probably miss it.
  • Counting Trescon credits as cash. The $20,000 can only be spent on Trescon's own events. Value it based on whether you would attend those events anyway.
  • Arriving with no meetings booked. The $50 pass has no attendee list. Founders who arrange meetings before the event usually get more out of the two days.
  • Pitching the industry instead of the AI. The jury is judging AI startups. Spend the first 30 seconds on what your model or system does that others can't.
  • Relying on old listings. Pages written before mid-2026 show April dates or Madinat Jumeirah. Check against the DWTC listing.
  • Leaving the visa too late. Pitching in person is required, and finals are close. Check your visa requirements today.

Where the Festival Fits in Dubai's AI Ecosystem

The festival is organised by Dubai AI Campus, the DIFC-based hub that issues Dubai's AI licence. The licence prize leads straight into that campus. DIFC said in November 2025 that the campus already hosted more than 200 AI companies.

If you win or make useful contacts, there are two good next steps. Compare the government-backed programmes in our guides to Dubai Future Accelerators and Dubai Founders HQ membership. If you are raising money, our profile of Oraseya Capital covers one of the UAE's most active early-stage investors. Founders with a working MVP can also look at the Dtec SANDBOX programme, which invests $150,000 in the startups that reach its second phase.

The festival is also the first of three big events for UAE founders this year. Next are GITEX Global and Expand North Star at Expo City Dubai in December, and Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2026 for fintech founders. Contacts made in October can turn into meetings booked for December.
